Copyright & DMCA

Last updated October 18, 2026

HubFount respects the work of cooks, photographers, writers and businesses. Recipes on HubFount are written in our own words; a recipe we found elsewhere credits and links where we found it; and we use our own photos or photos we have permission to use. If you believe something on HubFount infringes your copyright, please tell us and we'll look into it promptly.

Often the quickest fix is a friendly note to hi@hubfount.com, for example if you'd like a credit changed or a photo replaced. For a formal notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), use our designated agent below.

What to include in a notice

Your notice must be in writing and include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature (or that of the person authorized to act for the copyright owner).
  2. A description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed.
  3. The address (URL) of each page on HubFount with the material you believe infringes, and what on the page it is, so we can find it.
  4. Your name, postal address, phone number and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use isn't authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

Please note that facts, ideas and simple lists of ingredients generally aren't protected by copyright, while the written expression of a recipe and photographs can be. Knowingly false claims can create liability for the person who makes them (17 U.S.C. 512(f)).

What we do when we get a notice

When we receive a notice that includes the information above, we'll remove or disable access to the material, make a reasonable effort to let the person who provided it know, and keep a record of the notice.

Counter-notice

If material you provided was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may send our designated agent a counter-notice that includes:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. A description of the material that was removed and where it appeared before it was removed.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district where your address is located (or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which HubFount may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent.

We'll forward the counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. Unless they tell us within 10 business days that they've filed a court action, we may restore the material 10 to 14 business days after we receive the counter-notice.

Repeat infringers

Where appropriate, HubFount will end the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe others' copyrights.

Changes

We'll post any changes here and update the date above.
